CFFC was founded by Charlie Ward in the 1970s.   Our members regularly fly-fish for trout in Colwick Country Park Fishery, Nottinghamshire.

Our current members not only fish at Colwick Park, they also organise visits to, and monthly fly fishing matches at, other fisheries such as; Carsington, Draycote, Eyebrook, Foremark, Rutland Water, Thornton and Toft.

We actively promote conservation of the game fishing habitat and diverse aspects of nature that affect fly-fishing, and also the research and technology that create, maintain and promote the sport of fly-fishing.

We encourage people to become fly-fishers by providing tuition in all aspects of the sport, practical assistance at the water and taster days, for those who have never used the fly. Of all the ways of taking fish we believe that using the fly is supreme. It is said that a fish honours the angler when it takes the offered fly and the angler honours the fish by choosing the fly rather than any form of fishing.
